Welcome to the Kennet & Avon Canal Trust. We’re the charity that saved the Kennet & Avon Canal which runs from Bristol to Reading. Now we work to Protect, Enhance and Promote Britain’s best waterway. Browse our site to find out about our boat trips, our steam engines, our events and our cafes. Lots to do along the very best 87 miles in southern England.

Annual General Meeting
The 58th Annual General Meeting of the Trust was held on 19 September, with 11 members attending in person and a further 10 by Zoom. As well as approving the reappointment of directors, the meeting approved new Articles which confirm that attendance at an AGM may be by electronic means, with a lower quorum. The new Articles can be found under Trust Documents, and the draft minutes in the Annual Report section.
Crofton Beam Engines has now closed for the 2020 season. A ’thank you’ video has been posted on the Crofton website. Plans are already being developed to allow the engines to steam again in 2021.
Both Barbara McLellan and Rose of Hungerford have been operating public boat trips for the past couple of months, and hope to be able to operate special Christmas trips. Bruce Boats have also been welcoming visitors for holiday hire, although the ‘rule of six’ has had an impact on recent bookings.
All cafés remain open (apart from Crofton), although in some cases with reduced hours. Please see social media for full details.
