Our popular day hires for groups of up to 12 guests are now open for booking. Care Homes, Day Centres and families find these fully crewed hours on the canal to be relaxing, inspiring and extremely safe. Our wide-beam boats are especially built to accommodate wheelchair users and have fully equipped and accessible kitchens and toilets.

Parking at Bedwyn Wharf is free and is particularly suitable for small coaches with wheelchair lifts.

Boaters call people who sit and watch boats go by ‘Gongoozlers’. We want you to enjoy life on our wonderful canals and so our new Discovery Day Trips are designed to let you sample the pleasures of steering a wide-beam canal boat, working a boat through locks, finding out where canal water comes from (and goes too) and exploring the amazing heritage of the Kennet and Avon Canal.

Discovery Trips start at Bedwyn Wharf and take small groups of guests up four locks to the famous Crofton Pumping Station and Beam Engines. These are very practical and interactive day trips and are led by expert crews and skippers. They are suitable for anyone, but especially for people with limited mobility or who are vulnerable in any way.

If you are new to boat and lock handling the thought of a first-time holiday on a canal can be daunting – so it’s well worthwhile to join one of our holiday hire training weekends. Costs include all meals and the weekends are designed to be an enjoyable introduction to safe boating. The cost is just £125 for an individual with discounts for two-four members of a group. We strongly recommend that the skipper and at least one other member of the group are trained to our standards.
